According to reports the maker of the mega-viral film ‘Kony 2012’ and co-founder of invisible children was taken into custody in San Diego on Thursday night for ‘acting very strange’.
Very strangely actually, NBC San Diego said that the San Diego Police Department arrested Russell for “…masturbating in public, vandalizing cars and possibly under the influence of something”.
But Russell has come under attack for the film. Some people say it has come years too late and that the worst has already past and others go further and say that the Invisible Children charity is questionable in its use of donated money.
After he was taken into custody Russell was not arrested, medical attention was said to be a better alternative, so he was taken to a medical centre.
Ben Keesey, the CEO of Invisible Children later released a statement:
Jason Russell was unfortunately hospitalized yesterday suffering from exhaustion, dehydration, and malnutrition. He is now receiving medical care and is focused on getting better. The past two weeks have taken a severe emotional toll on all of us, Jason especially, and that toll manifested itself in an unfortunate incident yesterday. Jason’s passion and his work have done so much to help so many, and we are devastated to see him dealing with this personal health issue. We will always love and support Jason, and we ask that you give his entire family privacy during this difficult time.
